Document translation for study in the UK
UK universities, UCAS, and the ENIC service (UK ENIC, formerly UK NARIC) require that education documents issued in a language other than English are accompanied by a certified translation. This applies to school-leaving certificates, degrees, academic transcripts, and reference letters. We translate education documents from CIS institutions from Russian, Tajik, Uzbek, Kazakh, Ukrainian, and other languages.
Who we help
UCAS accepts school-leaving certificates and degrees in both original and translation. If your certificate is not in English, the university will require a certified translation before or after receiving a conditional offer.
Most UK universities accept applications for Masters and PhD programmes directly. A bachelor's degree and academic transcript in translation are a standard admissions office requirement.
Preparatory programmes (INTO, Kaplan, University of Exeter Foundation, and others) also require a certified translation of the school-leaving certificate. Some accept apostilled copies.
Medical professionals (GMC, NMC), engineers (Engineering Council), lawyers, and other specialists whose overseas qualifications need to be recognised through the UK ENIC service (ecctis.com) must provide a certified translation of the degree and academic transcript.
Documents commonly translated for universities
- School-leaving certificate (Year 11 equivalent)
- Certificate supplement (mark sheet)
- Enrolment certificate (where studies are ongoing)
- Bachelor's / Specialist / Master's degree
- Degree supplement (academic transcript / mark sheet)
- Academic reference letter (for current students)
- Soviet-era degree (specialist approach — see below)
- Reference letters (if not in English)
- Personal statement / motivation letter (if not originally in English)
- Certificates from courses and continuing professional development
- Diplomas from music or art schools (for specialist programmes)
Recognition through UK ENIC
UK ENIC (formerly UK NARIC) is the UK's official service for evaluating overseas qualifications. Employers, universities, and regulators use an ENIC Statement of Comparability to determine whether a qualification meets the UK standard. A certified translation of degrees and transcripts is required to apply to ENIC. ENIC operates through ecctis.com and accepts documents in Russian, Ukrainian, and other CIS languages — but only with a high-quality certified translation.

Дипломы стран СНГ имеют разный языковый режим. Часть университетов выдаёт дипломы только на русском языке, часть — на двух языках (русский + национальный), часть современных вузов перешла на английский. От этого зависит, нужен ли certified перевод и какого именно раздела.
