This is the term used in the official guidance: the translator must confirm that the translation is complete and accurate, and attach a signed statement (Certificate of Accuracy) giving their name, qualifications, signature, date, and contact details.
"Certified" in the UK sense is not a notary's stamp or a government seal. It is precisely that signed statement from the translator. Notarisation in Dushanbe does not give a translation the status of "certified" as the Home Office understands it, unless it is accompanied by a separate Certificate of Accuracy from the translator.
There is no system of sworn translators in the UK, unlike in Germany or France, for example. No separate government accreditation is required: documented qualifications are sufficient. Membership of professional associations such as ITI or CIOL is significant but not formally compulsory.
The entire document is translated — including stamps, seals, marginal notes, the date of issue, the document number, and the details of the issuing authority. Translations of fragments or "the main part only" are not accepted by the Home Office.
An apostille on the original document is generally not required by the Home Office — unlike some procedures in EU countries. If your lawyer or caseworker is asking for an apostille, clarify: that is a requirement of a specific institution (for example, a university), not the Home Office standard.

Soviet documents from Tajikistan are often entirely in Russian. Some are bilingual — in Russian and Tajik (in the Tajik SSR, both lines appeared simultaneously). We translate both language sections and note this in the Certificate of Accuracy.

An apostille for Soviet documents submitted to the Home Office is generally not required — the same standard as for modern documents. Confirm with your solicitor if the document is used in other procedures (for example, ENIC or Council of Europe bodies).

For most UKVI visas, the applicant's documents are translated, and in the case of family reunion, those of the spouse and children too. Below is a typical list for Spouse Visa and Skilled Worker.
For UCAS, ENIC (qualification recognition), foundation, and postgraduate programmes, universities require certified translations of all education documents. Grades are translated into UK format.
Yes, this is typical for most Tajik documents issued after 1994. We translate both language sections, and in the Certificate of Accuracy we note that the document is in two languages — Tajik and Russian.
A notary in Dushanbe can attest the authenticity of a translator's signature under Tajik law, but this is not equivalent to a UK-certified translation as the Home Office understands it. The Home Office requires a translator based in the United Kingdom with their own Certificate of Accuracy. In most cases, a translation prepared abroad has to be redone.
In full. The Home Office requires a translation of the entire document, including the cover, all completed pages, stamps, and dates. If certain pages are blank, this is noted in the translation. A partial translation of a military service record book is not accepted.
As a rule, the court judgment, the indictment or detention order, and any documents confirming the person's status are translated. If documents are partially illegible or damaged, this is recorded in the translation with an explanation.
The consulate may provide notarisation, but it is not a certified translator in the UK sense. A translation produced by the consulate generally does not contain the required Certificate of Accuracy. Check with your solicitor: in isolated cases a consular translation is accepted, but this is rare for Home Office asylum cases.
The standard turnaround is one to three working days per document. A military service record book or a large asylum bundle takes three to seven days. Screenshots do not need to be "translated" in the legal sense — they are submitted as exhibits. If they are in Tajik or Russian, we produce a translator's statement attesting to accuracy. This is the same Certificate of Accuracy format as for other documents.
Good-quality scans or photographs are sufficient. We do not need the originals. Photograph each page against a neutral background in good light, without shadows. If a photograph is not sufficiently clear, we will ask you to retake specific pages.
