Asia-Plus: Конфискация имущества фигурантов дела о госперевороте

Asia-Plus article dated 17 April 2025 reporting, citing Radio Ozodi, that Tajikistan’s authorities have begun confiscating property belonging to the political figures convicted in the “coup case”. The article reports that a house belonging to ex-chair of the Democratic Party Саидджафар Усмонзода (Saidjafar Usmonzoda) in Farkhor district was confiscated; the house where he lived in Dushanbe is registered to his wife. The article reports former Minister of Foreign Affairs Хамрохон Зарифи’s (Hamrokhon Zarifi) home in Dushanbe’s Ismoili Somoni district was also confiscated; Radio Ozodi visited on 16 April but found no one there, and neighbours said authorities arrived on 14 April to warn relatives. The article reports on 16 April evening authorities came to confiscate two houses of former MFA press secretary Абдулфайз Атои (Abdulfayz Atoi). Шокирджон Хакимов (Shokirjon Hakimov), deputy chair of the Social-Democratic Party, avoided confiscation because his apartment is the family’s sole residence. Journalist Рухшона Хакимова (Rukhshona Hakimova) rented housing and owns no property subject to confiscation; however the court arrested nearly 230,000 somoni from her bank account. The article reports the defendants were convicted in early February to 8–27 years for state treason and attempted coup; they consider the charges unfounded and asked authorities to review the verdicts and cancel the confiscation order.
